Well, just take a look at the newly finished chalkboard!
Yay, I finally got this project underway. It took less than two hours and I think it adds a lot to the kitchen.
I then mixed up the chalkboard paint according to Martha Stewart’s recipe of 2 Tablespoon’s non-sanded tile grout to one cup of paint (any color- ours is Valspar Glass Green). Then I rolled on the paint with a mini roller and then hand painted the dog dish tray while the first coat of the wall was drying.
Then I did a second coat. Let that dry and then sanded with 150-grit-sandpaper. Then I rubbed the whole thing down with chalk and wiped that away with a damp cloth. Then the fun began. I only had sidewalk chalk on hand so the writing is really big.
So what’s on the menu? Chocolate coconut cupcakes!
That's so funny! I just put up a chalkboard in the kitchen yesterday and wrote our weekly menu on it!
ReplyDeleteYou found the perfect spot for yours.
And the dog dish tray is a great idea too.

This sister doesn't have a chalkboard, I guess I better get one if I want to fit in!
ReplyDeleteOn our menu last night was a Roasted Beet Salad with maple syrup candied walnuts, feta, grapefruit and a raspberry/citrus vinaigrette.
And for dessert... fresh made strawberry coconut milk ice cream. Can't figure out how to embed links, so here is the full link for the recipe. http://www.organicspark.com/portfolio/strawberry-coconut-milk-ice-cream/
I'd love to join the group and have a chalkboard somewhere. Just love the idea although I'm not sure how I'd use it. Hmmm
ReplyDeleteAuntie, you can out anything on the chalkboard. Last night instead of the menu I put down how much Colin owed me for the monthly bills. One less piece of paper.
ReplyDeleteLuna loves her chalkboard tray, she (well Colin really) erased the water and food and replaced them with Pizza and Beer.
